We recently completed a renovation job at Kirkby Portland CC in Nottinghamshire. They have been a customer for over 10 years and the double bay facilities had been left for a while to become overgrown and in need or repair. We set about the renovations by stripping all the surfaces including the surrounds. We then proceeded to level off the bases and complete remedial works to the playing areas to make sure they continued to perform to the levels we expect from our facilities. We then refitted the shockpads as these where in remarkable condition. Much like our surfacing, our Shockpads are manufactured to such high standards that we can expect upwards of 12 years of consistent high performance before they show any signs of degradation. After this we installed brand new Super Verde Wilton Batting and Bowling ends which are accompanied with brand new Super Verdeturf. We finally completed some tidying up of the netting, put fresh cable ties on to finish the refurbishment.
Whilst on site we also completed the renovation of the existing match pitch. The match pitch on the surface just looked tired but upon lifting it became clear that years of water flowing across it had saturated the Shockpad to such an extent we could not reuse it. Some brisk work to get a new one delivered from Verde meant that John Barnes was not delayed. The saturation was caused by water coming down the hill and wash sediment into the Shockpad that became stuck. It is an unusual issue that we don’t often have to deal with but that was caused due to the topography of the ground. Once the new Shockpad was delivered, we could install the Super Verde Wilton and reintegrate it into the square.
