Long Eaton Cricket Club

Cricket Case Studies | 03/09/2024

Verde Sports Cricket recently installed a new Double Bay Practice Facility at Long Eaton Cricket Club in Nottingham. This project would act as one of Peter Dury’s final installations that he designed and oversaw to completion.

Long Eaton Cricket Club have not had permanent facilities to practice and train on in their history and so it was seen as an imperative for their growth and progression to add these facilities. Situated in the beautiful West Park in Long Eaton, the club struggled for a location that would allow them to safely practice whilst keeping it safe and secure for the wider public. With the support of Peter Dury and the local authority the club identified a location that was wasteland and unused as a viable location for a double bay practice facility.

Located to the rear of the club house in between the Bowls Club and the cemetery was the area in question. It required a large amount of work for it to be suitable for the desired purpose with retaining walls and ground works extensive prior to installation truly beginning. Once Verde Sports took over the site, we began the process of installing a double bay practice facility. These would incorporate batting and bowling ends to allow for a more sustainable program of renovation over the years with the club’s long-term needs being at the centre of everything we offer at Verde Sports. We installed two Premier systems in line with the facilities that the club felt would suit them best. These systems would provide a slower pace but additional bounce, seam and spin. These characteristics it was felt would offer the greatest benefit to both the senior sides and burgeoning youth section. An important addition from our standard installation was the 4.00m high back net that allowed the club to utilise these nets at all times without fear of the general public being hurt whilst passing by.

Sam Harris, Long Eaton CC Club Captain had the following to say – “The club are extremely impressed with the professionalism from Verde Sports from start of the project to completion. Verde have made the process easy for the club with very good communication and their contractors (John Barnes) have worked hard to manage the project within a time frame. With new top of the range practice facilities that Verde have installed, the club are looking to push their sides to the next level as the club have their first outdoor permanent facility. The club would like to thank Verde Sports for the work that they have completed.”
