Back in 2011 Tarleton Cricket Club first made contact regarding a proposed double bay cricket facility. After a number of set backs and rethinks over the scope of the project the club finally managed to get funding together for their original plan. Having sought proposals from various companies and viewing installations the club appointed Verde Sports Cricket Ltd to install a facility with a Premier and Test Match system batting ends, bowling ends and surround surfacing extending to a total length of 30.00m.
Work had been due to start in February but the wet winter led to the site being saturated and therefore delayed. Even when work began further storms flooded the area and led to pulling off site for a week. Once back on site things moved on rapidly and the bases were completed.
Surfaces were laid and the netting erected with the club members waiting with pads on as the finishing touches were put to the facility. The nets were formally opened by Simon Kerrigan, Lancashire Cricket Club, on Friday 25th April, 2014.
