. As part of a three year project to investigate the consequences of marine renewable devices, novel methods of measuring food supply are being developed.
The installation of marine renewable energy devices is predicted to alter water flow and sediment disposition in the sea which may have negative consequences for marine life; yet the addition of hard surfaces on the seabed can be beneficial, providing habitat and shelter for marine species.
Artificial Grass is the ideal material to trap particulate food and sediment falling to the surface of renewable infrastructure. Grass traps provide a flexible and economic method which can be adapted to a range of environments.
