ANDO WINS THE BRITISH GP
The British GP. What a weekend. Top step of the podium at our home GP for the one and only, Brad Anderson. Unfortunately Dominic Lancett didn’t have it quite as good.
EMX250 Dominic Lancett:
This was Dominic’s first time riding Matterley Basin and his first time in the EMX250 Class. A massive step up and an awesome experience to undertake. 29th in free practice showed him the pace he needed to get into the top 20 and qualify. Nerves set in. Qualification was timed as opposed to a race so it was difficult for him to judge his pace. Dominic’s fastest lap was his first lap and try as he might, he just couldn’t put quicker time in. So unfortunately he didn’t qualify for the main event.
EMX2t Brad Anderson:
Ando Dominated the British GP. 1st in the Free Practice, 2nd in the Timed Practice and then stormed home with a 1-1 to take the overall.
Race 1:
Race 1 saw Ando get a pretty good start but then crash out on the first lap. He got up quick, was in 9th but managed to pull back to 3rd before the lap had finished. The battle with Mike Krass then started until half way through the race when Ando managed to pull away and take the lead. From there on he led the way to take a superb 1st place finish in Moto 1.
Race 2:
Race 2 was again a good start, coming round the first bend in 3rd. Ando was soon in 2nd battling with British rider, Brad Todd. Within 10 minutes Ando made a clean break. As Todd started to struggle with the intense pace, Ando started to gain speed, become smoother and made it look easy. He had a clear run to the finish to take a very comfortable 1st place in Moto 2.
Overall:
So Brad finished 1-1 at his home GP. What an excellent start to the season. Top step of the podium and the British National Anthem playing in front of your home crowd.
Quote from Brad Anderson:
What a weekend. 1st round and 1-2 at my home GP. Good start to the season and happy to have the red plate.
Quote from Team Manager, Adrian Kirk:
Top weekend and an excellent bit of racing from Ando. He made it look easy. It was also a good experience for young Dominic, although he found it hard not being at the front of a race. You only gain experience and get better if you push yourself and race against those faster than you.
