Ando is crowned European Two-Stroke Champion
What a fantastic weekend at the GP of
Switzerland. Glorious weather, a great paddock, plenty of entertainment,
a massive crowd and some top notch racing. It was the last round of the
EMX300 Two-Stoke Championship and Brad Anderson came into the closing round
with a 21 point lead on the former Champion, Mike Kras.
TIMED PRACTICE:
Although it was cracking flags on Saturday afternoon, it had been somewhat
different all day and night Friday. It had put plenty of rain down making
a claggy and slippery track for the EMX300 Timed Practice, which was out early
doors on the Saturday morning. As the
track started to dry up the hard limestone pushed though making it a tough
track to master. Brad put a couple of decent laps in and then got a fast
forth lap that pushed him up into 2nd place. He was happy with a 2nd gate
pick for the weekend so pulled off and settled for that.
RACE 1:
Brad's first race was gone 6.30pm on the Saturday
evening. It had been a long day, full of nerves for all the team.
Brad was going into his first race with a possibility of cleaning up the
Championship in this race alone. All he had to do was to get 5 clear
points ahead of 2nd place Mike Kras, which could be a 1st for Brad and a third
for Kras.
Brad got a terrible jump out the gate so got stuck behind a
pile up on the first bend. So he came
down the first straight way back in 22nd position. Kras and Dunn were already way out front. So Brad got his racing head on. He
wasn't going to let this Championship win get away from him. He pulled
through to 17th, 14th and then up into 9th. The next few places took a
little longer to get through the traffic into 5th, by which time the pack of 4
leaders had stretched a big gap to close. He swiftly manger to conquer the
forth position but the Yamaha in 3rd took some doing. Two laps from the
end Brad made his move past, but then made a mistake and crashed letting the
Yam past again. Brad had to battle hard and then on the home straight of
the final lap, Brad managed to move back into 3rd place to gain 3rd in moto
one, behind 2nd place Mike Kras. British
rider, James Dunn took the Moto win.
RACE 2:
With a 19 points lead going into Moto 2, all Brad had to do was get 15th in this last race, in order to win the Championship out right.
Brad managed to get a
reasonable jump out the gate but came round the first bend in 5th,
whist 2nd place Kras got away out front! Brad was happy to sit back in 6th,
take no chances and win the Championship.
However, after 5 laps, Brad passed down the pit lane to see Mike Kras’s
bike parked up. Kras had a mechanical
breakdown and was out of the race! So
Brad relaxed and started to enjoy the ride.
It didn’t matter whether he finished the race or not, he had won the
championship. Brad is a racer mind you,
so he really did start to enjoy the race, by picking off the remaining riders
until he just had young James Dunn left to pass. The British rider, James Dunn was in for his
first EMX300 win, so wasn’t going to give in easily. Dunn and Anderson battled down the pit lane and
right into the very last bend. But it
was Brad who held the lead over the finish jump and finished a fabulous 1st
place in Moto 2.
OVERALL:
So Brad got a 3 – 1 to take the 2nd overall in the GP of Switzerland with British rider James Dunn taking his first EMX300 overall win. Brad, his team and his fans were buzzing. Brad had not only gone and won the EMX300 Two-Stroke Championship but he had done so in style. He pulled through from 22nd to 3rd in Moto 1 and took the fastest lap in Race 2. He was the most consistent rider throughout the whole of the Championship and showed plenty of blood, guts and hard work to get the well-deserved EMX300 1st place Championship win. Out of 10 races Brad had 6 x 1st place wins, 2 x 2nd place wins and 2 x 3rd place wins and a podium at all 5 GP’s.

The pressures off now. I am Glad it is all over. All I had to do was keep it on 2 wheels in the last race to win the Championship but you know me, I wanted to go out in style, so I passed Dunn on the last lap to take the win. Every round on the podium. Consistency was the key. So glad I have the Gold Plate and the EMX 300 Championship wrapped up. Thank you to everyone who has helped me achieve this goal.

been a brilliant weekend to finish off the EMX Season. Brad did what we all knew he was capable of

It isn’t every day that a British riders takes home the Gold Plate at a
GP event. In fact I believe it is 5
years since the last time this was achieved.
