INJURY PUTS DOWNER ON TEAMS WEEKEND
MICHELIN UK MX NATIONALS – R4 – CUSSES GORSE – 27th June 2022
The fourth round of the Michelin MX Nationals took the team to Cusses Gorse, Wiltshire. With a gentle breeze and the sun shining the track was in great shape for the weekend ahead.
EXPERT MX2
BAILEY JOHNSTON:
Bailey soon found a little flow on the track during qualification and started to put in his quick laps. On his second attempt he found himself in sixth place and this is where he would find himself at the finish. Race one Bailey got a fantastic jump out of the gate going into the first turn in second place, unfortunately the bike stalled which meant exiting the turn in last place. After a couple of laps he started find some flow and started picking of the other riders, moving himself up to 10th place at the finish. Race 2 saw another great start from Bailey but unfortunately got caught up in the pile up of bikes and riders in the first turn. After putting his head down and started putting in some solid laps he managed to move himself up to 9th place at the chequered flag.
On the Saturday evening Bailey took part in the straight rhythm. This was his first time at this event for Bailey and wanted to take part for the experience and to have a little fun. Unfortunately, just missing on qualifying for the Semi-finals he still really enjoyed himself.
Day two saw Bailey struggle with starts in both races and didn’t seem to find his flow on track. With a 9th place finish in the first race of the day and a 10th place in the second, giving him Ninth place overall for the weekend.
Not the most solid of weekends for Bailey but still a lot of positives to take.
QUOTE FROM BAILEY JOHNSON:
Definitely a weekend to forget this weekend. Really disappointed in my performance today and a lot of bad luck yesterday of been taken out twice. But today’s performance there was no excuses, speed wasn’t there at all couldn’t get into no flow whatsoever. Sorry for everyone I let down this weekend and thanks for the support as always.
PRO CLASS:
JAKE MILLWARD:
Jake had a solid qualification, finding his flow with the track very quickly and found himself in fourth place. Mid way through the session he slipped down to fifth place but soon rectified this and went a little quicker moving back up to fourth place at the chequered flag.
Great start for Jake in Race one finding himself in 5th place, finding his groove on the fast flowing circuit Jake managed to move himself up to fourth place. Riding a strong race Jake was looking solid. Two thirds through the race Jake got taken down by another rider and found himself on the ground injured. This would result in a DNF.
Unfortunately we wouldn’t see Jake line up for Race two as he was taken straight to hospital to get checked out. More information on this soon.
